Hauser's Coin Company, Inc. was established in 1963 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Nicholas Hauser and his father Howard Hauser. Since 1978 the store has been located in Lakeland, Florida and now managed by Nicholas's son, Michael.
Michael operated a store in Clearwater from 2001 to 2012 and returned to run the Lakeland store. Armored Brand Products, a company that Michael started, manufactures and distributes coin supplies and related items to the trade also moved to Lakeland.
Celebrating 50 years in the industry this year, the Hauser family, has been active in promoting the coin industry. Nicholas Hauser spearheaded the fight for the exemption of all US coins from Florida sales tax which took affect July 1st, 1999. Foreign coins and bars of silver, gold and platinum are exempt once the sale is $500 or more. Nicholas and Michael have been interviewed by trade papers including Coin World and Krause publications, as well as the Wall Street Journal, CNN, Tampa Tribune, and The Lakeland Ledger.
